Re: Denver/Better Business Bureau

Dear Managers, Sales, and Customer Service,

We want to thank you for your extra efforts, great attitudes, and understanding in answering questions and concerns from your dealers and customers regarding the Denver Better Business Bureau. We greatly appreciate your continued commitment to excellence in your customer satisfaction, attitude, and efforts.

I am very proud of you, managers, who have dealt with the competitors exploiting the Denver Better Business Bureau issues. Wisdom is basing our responses on the bigger picture. This means recognizing that whatever happens to us is not whim of fate or only the will of man. “In every adversity, lies the seed of equal or greater benefit.” These adversities have made us even stronger in our commitment to always be truthful; even when the customer, competitor, or adversary is not. Even if it means losing the business, we choose to loose the business honestly rather than to gain by deception. This adversity has made us more aware, than any other company in our industry, of how to offer “World Class Customer Service”, which has required a commitment from every employee to our definite major purpose and our code of conduct. Remember that the highest honor given is to the leader who leads with a humble spirit.

Few experiences in life are more painful than having one’s name and reputation tarnished or damaged. Our name represents all that we are, and when it is vilified with false or distorted information, we are jolted into action- or reaction. We instinctively know that…

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.” (Proverbs 22:1)

As you know, Fast Trac Buildings and Affiliates have met with the Denver BBB and have offered to do anything within reason to clear our good name, including flying BBB employees or managers to our manufacturing facilities, conducting seminars for BBB employees, giving them tours of our facilities, attending mediation, or other means of helping them better understand the marketing, sale, order, engineering, and delivery process of the steel building industry. Fast Trac is always willing to pave the way and go the extra mile to promote and improve the perception and customer service within our industry. As with any industry, the steel building industry has those businesses who are “riches without efforts” attitude and who create the “black eye” image within the industry. Having a local company attracting national and derogatory attention, let alone the 50 % price increases in 2004, compounded the difficulty and your ability to get any cooperation from the Denver BBB.

Although you may not have been aware, Fast Trac officers, over the past three years, have been aware, of what we felt were many underhanded and unethical practices of the Denver BBB. It seems, the more we made efforts to inform the management of the BBB of these problems, the more ruthless they became and the less cooperation we received. Even so far as, our CEO meeting personally with Ms. Jean Herman, the CEO of the BBB, to clear up any issues. This meeting resulted only because of the relationship with one of our attorneys who had been a former chairman of the BBB and requested Ms. Herman meet with our CEO. At the meeting, we were greatly encouraged that the BBB and Fast Trac could quickly resolve any issues. We informed her of several inappropriate actions by her employees, such as allowing companies to become members prior to one year of being in business. As well as BBB employees giving sponsor or other members 3-5 days to respond to complaints with out posting them at all, while other members and non-members complaints were posted immediately or possibly before even notifying the company. We expressed our concerns over the sponsor program the BBB had initiated to create additional revenues. This allowed BBB customers to have various levels of financial contributions for membership or sponsorship levels. Since the BBB has commission sales people, we felt this definitely would affect the “neutral” position of the BBB. Some other major concerns was the unfair practice of rating national sales companies, such as Fast Trac, the same way as small local businesses. This creates problems by the Denver BBB, posting the numbers of complaints, when BBB’s in other areas and states only state the rating and do not show the number of complaints. This creates an unfair advantage for businesses reported by the BBB’s in other states or areas versus the Denver BBB. After this meeting, Fast Trac sent a letter expressing our willingness to cooperate with Ms. Herman’s organization and agreed to meet again soon. As of today, Fast Trac’s numerous messages and follow-up calls have not been returned, or our concerns addressed.

Recently, as you all know and as a result of litigation from other companies against the BBB; KDVR Fox 31 TV aired two segments of an ongoing investigation against the Denver BBB which documents the claims Fast Trac and others have made against the BBB. We realize that it’s quite shocking for businesses and consumers to find that a consumer advocate agency that has a national image of honest reporting would resort to these tactics.

Although Fast Trac and affiliates have lost numerous sales from competitors exploiting and encouraging complaints against Fast Trac and as a result of the BBB actions, we have chosen at this time, not to pursue litigation against the BBB. However, we do wish to make you aware and bring our management team up to date and have enclosed copies of the KDVR Fox 31 TV documentary, to assist you in the future with the facts available at this time.

We sincerely hope that with these recent developments, that changes will be made very soon in the BBB management and procedures and that they may once again be relied upon to report fairly and accurately on all businesses and especially those that run honest and ethical businesses and not just based on companies that gave in to pressure for greater financial contributions.

I want to once again thank those of you in leadership positions who held fast to our Definite Major Purpose even in the face of accusations and adversity. We are very proud of you. Fast Trac and affiliates will always strive to be above reproach and provide World Class Customer Service. As our definite major purpose daily reminds us:

We live in a day when the moral law, honesty, integrity, ethics, and principals have been ruled out of our businesses, our legal system, as well as our personal lives. The basic idea of an absolute right and wrong is rejected by most businesses and only reacted to by many employees, business owners, and managers. The result is that employees, business owners and managers do “what’s right in their own eyes”. In a world where “get what you can while you can get it”, has allowed the business and consumer to feel its okay to not be completely truthful, because almost expect to be lied to. This mentality promotes a “do it to them before they do it to me” attitude in almost all phases of our society. The Great riches and rewards that God wants to allow us are lost or traded in for immediate gratification.

Fast Trac Steel Buildings, Inc. and Affiliated companies have set a Definite Major Purpose to operate and grow into great companies by using the Biblical standards of honesty, integrity, and wisdom. Our companies seek first, to allow God to be glorified through our lives, example and business. Secondly, to be an example and standard for business within our industry, then to the business world. Third, to teach our employees, managers and officers to earn the rich treasures, offered by wisdom and prosperity, with a code of conduct and a commitment to these standards and principles. Finally, we resolve to develop and mentor twelve officers to carry on our tradition and standards in order that the company does not loose sight of this vision as it continues to grow.

We believe that any company, person, family, city, or nation that discovers and uses the treasures of God’s wisdom will become marvel to the world. We as a company, desire to be a marvelous example to inspire others.

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall say, surely this great (company) is a wise an understanding people… what (company) is there so great that hath statues and judgments so righteous as all this law: (Deuteronomy 4:6-8)

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally… and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5)

Sincerely,

Board of Directors
